Construction WIP Schedule Generator

Turn QuickBooks data into GAAP-compliant work-in-progress schedules automatically.

$100–$400 per customer, per month

Overview

What this is

A connector that reads a contractor's accounting data and produces the work-in-progress schedule their accountant needs — percentage complete, over/under billings, revenue recognition — formatted to standard and refreshed as the underlying data changes. Boring, unglamorous, and worth a great deal to the handful of people who need it monthly.

The problem it solves

WIP schedules are built by hand in spreadsheets from accounting exports, every month, per client. The reported cost is on the order of eight to twelve hours per client per month — for work that is mechanical, rule-driven, and error-prone precisely because it is tedious.

Why now

Accounting platforms have stable APIs, and construction is repeatedly flagged as an emerging vertical-SaaS opportunity. The buyer is a firm that bills by the hour, which makes the value calculation unusually easy: if you save ten hours a month, you can charge a meaningful fraction of what those hours bill for.

The evidence

What to watch out for

You need to actually understand percentage-of-completion accounting, or partner with someone who does. Getting the numbers subtly wrong in a financial statement is worse than not shipping.
