YouTube Thumbnail A/B Tester

Let creators test a thumbnail against their own back catalogue and their competitors before they publish.

$10–$30 per customer, per month

Overview

What this is

A tool that takes a draft thumbnail and scores it against the creator's own historical performance and against what is currently winning in their niche. Upload two or three options, get a side-by-side prediction, a breakdown of what is driving the difference (face, contrast, text density, colour separation from the surrounding feed), and a recommendation. The useful version does not just say "B is better" — it says why, in terms a creator can apply to the next twenty thumbnails.

The problem it solves

Click-through rate is the single biggest lever on a YouTube video's performance, and creators currently guess. YouTube's own A/B testing arrived late, is limited to three variants, and only runs after publishing — which means the test costs you the launch window, the period when the algorithm is deciding whether to push the video at all. Creators want to know before they hit publish, not after.

Why now

Vision models got cheap enough that scoring an image against a corpus of thumbnails is a few cents rather than a research project. At the same time the creator economy has professionalised: there are now full-time editors and thumbnail designers with budget, who treat $20/month as a rounding error against a video that underperforms.

The evidence

What to watch out for

You are competing with YouTube's own free feature, so the pitch has to be pre-publish testing and competitive benchmarking — the two things they do not do. Prediction accuracy is also genuinely hard; be honest about it being directional rather than pretending it is oracle-grade.
